Her: I mean I suppose an alternate is alright..
Him: You're no alternate to me
So corny, but so cute.

Émilie Muller

Émilie

Last week we were required to watch the film, “Émilie Muller” for my French 211 class. To quickly sum up the story: an actress by the name of Émilie auditions for a film. For her audition the director asked her to grab her purse and describes the contents within. At the end of the story you learn that the purse was not Émilie’s and she completely made up this elaborate story about the contents.

Originally, I figured I would hate the film and spend the entire duration of the film impatiently awaiting the ending. I was surprised that the exact opposite occurred. I loved the film. It was not only interesting, but thought-provoking.

One specific idea stuck with me for a few days and I decided I needed to share.. Émilie pulled a journal from the purse and the director asks her to share what she writes in the journal. She responds by saying. “A story, part of a dream, a sentence I read in a book. I am always writing things down, it’s an absurd habit.”

When I heard this I immediately had a burning desire to try to write down all the same things. Of course, with this being the age of social media I have decided to write all these things down and then transfer them to this page. I plan to include more than stories and parts of dreams and the possibilities are endless…

ENJOY!
